Ideas for Healthy Travel FoodWhile traveling is fun, it can also be stressful. All too often, traveling becomes a handy excuse to forget your weight loss* diet and undo all of your hard work. Follow the tips below to stay in control of your eating while you travel.

Fast Food

When eating fast food while traveling, eat sandwiches that are low in fat and calories, such as grilled chicken sandwiches (without mayonnaise or any other kind of sauce). Avoid fried side dishes like French fries, onion rings, and hush puppies and opt instead for salads, vegetables, and fruits. When eating fast food salad, don’t put the dressing on top of your salad; instead, keep it to the side and just dip your fork in it before grabbing the veggies.

Packed Food

Bringing your own food with you when you travel has several benefits. It helps keep your blood sugar at a safe level, saves you money, and prevents you from binging on unhealthy foods. If you’re traveling by car, pack a cooler full of healthy sandwiches on whole wheat bread and raw vegetables and fruits for snacks. If you’ll be riding a plane, peanut butter in one serving-sized containers with raw vegetables or fruit and some unsalted almonds make for a great, light meal.
