Don’t let the fact that you’re stuck at home deter you from your goals.  Here are some easy tips to follow that will help you stay on track for success and prevent the COVID weight gain!

Choose filling foods

When it comes time for grocery shopping, remember to select foods that will keep you feeling full for longer.  Foods rich in proteins and fiber are great for doing just that!  Salads and vegetables, real oatmeal, fish, and chicken are great sources of nutrient rich foods.

Beware of snacking!

When you’re stuck at home or just working from home, each day can seem to fade into another & reaching for a bag of chips can be a tempting way to fight off boredom.  But if you’re not careful, boredom can lead to absent-minded snacking.  Keep in mind that what and how much you eat is important when snacking.  Avoid buying chips and instead reach for some nuts or dried fruit.  Portion out your snack food so you know exactly how much you can eat to avoid overeating.

Plan activities to keep you active

Even though some gyms may be closed, there’s no reason you can’t bring a fitness routine into your home.  Remember that old workout video you haven’t used in years?  Now is a good time to dust that off and get your heart pumping!  There are also lots of free workout routines online you can use instead.  Incorporating physical activity into your day can help reduce stress and cabin fever.

Find hobbies to keep you busy

Think of some of your favorite hobbies to do so when a hunger craving strikes, you can cut it off before it grows!  There’s no better time look into new hobbies than when you’re stuck at home anyway!  Try to pick new ones that can be done at home & also ones that you can look forward to in the future.

Be honest and hold yourself accountable

A little food fib won’t hurt, right?  It’s easy to fall into this trap, especially if you’re stuck at home.  Remember that your health goals are achievable and the value you get when you succeed feels so much better than that extra snack would have tasted.  Track what you eat and review it at the end of the day.  Are there areas you can improve?  If so, make those your focus for the next day!
