Avoiding Food TemptationsConquering Food Temptations

Food temptations are everywhere, but if you practice you can get to the point where you don’t even notice them. Here are some suggestions to help you get used to avoiding food temptations.

Take your water bottle everywhere. Water with a splash of lemon can give you a flavor boost when you’re craving the flavor of something else. Plus, if you have water in your stomach you are less likely to feel like you are starving or cannot resist a food item. Take this to another level and infuse cucumber into your water for a very refreshing change.

Eat protein before you leave the house. Anyone trying to lose body fat can benefit from this tip. Food temptations are much easier to avoid when you are not hungry.

Avoid Processed Carbohydrates. Have you ever noticed when you eat processed carbs for breakfast such as cereal or bagels, you get a noticeable drop in blood sugar 1-2 hours later? This is a result of a hormone spike causing the drop in blood sugar, making food temptation unbearable. Always eat a protein based breakfast and avoid carbs in the morning.

Bring your own snacks or food. If you know you are going to be in a situation, like a party or other event that may focus heavily on bad food, bring your own healthy snacks in a cooler or your purse. If you put your snacks in your purse you can put a cooler pack in a resealable sandwich bag with your snack to keep it nice and cold. If you’ll be out of the house for a long while make sure one of your snacks is high in protein – like chicken – so you can feel satisfied and enjoy yourself.
